NDA Exam Pattern 2027
The written examination has two objective-type papers. Paper I is Mathematics and Paper II is the General Ability Test. Check the official UPSC notification when released for the final schedule, instructions, and any updates.
- Paper I: Mathematics: 300 marks, 2.5 hours.
- Paper II: General Ability Test: 600 marks, 2.5 hours.
- Selection stages: Written examination followed by the Services Selection Board process and medical standards.
Paper I: Mathematics Syllabus
Focus on concepts, speed, accuracy, and regular timed practice.
- Algebra: sets, relations, complex numbers, quadratic equations, sequences and series, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, logarithms, and matrices.
- Trigonometry: angles, identities, inverse functions, triangles, heights and distances, and properties of triangles.
- Analytical Geometry: coordinate geometry, straight lines, circles, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola, and three-dimensional geometry.
- Differential Calculus: functions, limits, continuity, derivatives, applications of derivatives, and maxima and minima.
- Integral Calculus and Differential Equations: integration, applications of integration, first-order equations, and growth and decay problems.
- Vector Algebra: vectors in two and three dimensions, dot product, cross product, and applications.
- Statistics and Probability: data representation, averages, dispersion, correlation, regression, probability, and distributions.
Paper II: General Ability Test Syllabus
Part A: English
Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension, sentence construction, and effective communication.
Part B: General Knowledge
- Physics: matter, mechanics, heat, sound, light, electricity, magnetism, and everyday applications.
- Chemistry: physical and chemical changes, elements and compounds, acids and bases, air and water, carbon, and common chemical products.
- General Science: living organisms, human systems, health, and basic scientific developments.
- History: Indian history, freedom movement, constitution, and major national developments.
- Geography: earth, climate, resources, agriculture, industries, transport, and India’s geography.
- Current Events: important national and international events, defence news, sports, awards, science, and personalities.
How to Prepare for NDA 2027
- Complete the syllabus once before beginning intensive revision.
- Study Mathematics daily and maintain a formula notebook.
- Read quality news and revise static General Knowledge every week.
- Attempt sectional tests first, then full-length mock tests under exam conditions.
